A Little Background:
A Colorado caver, Kevin Manley, designed the original Manley headlamp which he called the “Cave Headlamp.” The design was heavy and bulky but rugged. There were only ten units produced. Around 2012, Kevin teamed up with Steve Reames to design a new headlamp. Kevin did the mechanical design and Steve did the electrical design and firmware. They formed an LLC called “Marble Mountain Lights” in 2014 and started manufacturing the “Manley 20” headlamp. From 2014 to 2020 over 200 units were manufactured. A combination of manufacturing challenges and design differences forced the company to close at the end of 2020.

A New Company - Marble Mountain Electronics
During the time of Marble Mountain Lights, Steve created over a dozen headlamp designs and four of them were built and tested. Steve also designed the circuitry and PCB for the Carbi Headlamp; a novel design from Spain that unfortunately failed to receiving funding from KickStarter.

In 2021 Steve and Marty formed a new LLC called Marble Mountain Electronics. Marty worked in the banking industry for over 20 years and runs the financial side of the company. Both Marty and Steve are life members and fellows of the National Speleological Society and have been caving for well over 20 years.

As of June 2023, we have the design, and have prototyped, a new headlamp using all of the experience and knowledge of the last ten years. The product should have been released in 2021 but we have been bit by the worldwide electronic parts shortage. Be assured that we will continue to support replacement parts and batteries for existing Manley 20 units, and we will deliver new products soon.
